Please support club charity this weekend

Among our special guests at Sunday's match against London Wasps at Welford Road are representatives of CDKL5 UK, one of the official Leicester Tigers charities.

CDKL5 UK will be conducting a bucket collection around the stadium throughout the day and hosting a raffle with prizes including a round of golf with Tigers club captain Geordan Murphy and a meal voucher for Timo’s restaurant.

This is a cause very close to the hearts of the Tigers as consultant orthopaedic surgeon Martyn Newey has provided pitchside medical cover for the team for the last 11 years and in 2010 his youngest daughter Eleanor was diagnosed with the rare genetic condition CDKL5.

Eleanor has severe developmental delay, is unable to walk or talk, and needs 24-hour care. She is one of about 700 children in the world with a CDKL5 disorder, including 50 in the UK and at least two in Leicester.

CDKL5 UK is a new charity set up to raise awareness of the condition, provide support for families and raise funds for research.

Tigers fans can also show support for CDKL5 by voting for the charity to receive a donation from Direct Debit's Big Break. CDKL5 is one of 100 charities nominated for Big Break, which will donate £2,000 to the charity with the most votes. Click here to place your vote.
