Leicester Tigers will welcome more than 1,100 young players to the second Tigers Challenge of the season.

A total of 74 teams from across the country will take part in the tournament in Minehead this weekend in age groups from under-sevens to under-15s.

Teams from as far apart as Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire and Penzance and Newlyn in Cornwall, Maesteg in Wales and Belfast Quins, will be travelling to take part.

They will be accommodated at Butlins Minehead and have full use of the holiday resort’s facilities, with the games staged at Minehead Barbarians RFC and the town’s King George V School on Saturday and Sunday.

They will be joined by a surprise guest for a prize-giving ceremony on Sunday.

Butlins Skegness hosted the first Tigers Challenge of the year last weekend, with more than 600 players heading to the Lincolnshire coast. And Tigers Challenge will return to Butlins Minehead on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
