Tries by Dan Bowden and Manu Tuilagi have been shortlisted for the Guinness Try of the Season.

Tuilagi’s sensational score against Worcester Warriors in the opening home game of the season and Bowden’s brilliant try against Saracens in February are on the five-try shortlist.

Tuilagi’s try on September 8 began with a turnover by Vereniki Goneva in the Tigers 22. Sam Harrison and Toby Flood launched a counterattack that also involved Tom Youngs, Scott Hamilton, Flood again, Graham Kitchener and Anthony Allen for Tuilagi to score at the left corner. Bowden’s was another length-of-the-field effort. The try on February 23 began with a scrum on the Leicester 22 before George Ford, Geordan Murphy and Matt Smith combined to take Tigers to halfway. Adam Thompstone’s hand-off helped him make ground up to the Saracens 22 where Ford’s chip was gathered by Bowden to score. Watch it again by clicking here

They are joined on the shortlist by Christian Wade (London Wasps) for his try against Harlequins at Twickenham on September 1, James Simpson-Daniel (Gloucester Rugby) for his score against Wasps at Kingsholm on September 22 and Elliot Daly (Wasps) for his try against Northampton Saints at Adams Park on March 23. The winner will be announced by Premiership Rugby at their awards ceremony on May 9 at the London Hilton, Park Lane. Last season’s winner was Jonny May of Gloucester Rugby.

"We saw some breathtaking tries in Aviva Premiership Rugby this season so I am very grateful to the panel for their hard work in producing this shortlist,” said Phil Winstanley, rugby director at Premiership Rugby. "Looking at them, any of the five would be a worthy winner.”
