Pupils Play 4 Health with Tigers

More than 70 children took to the Welford Road pitch for a festival of sport as part of Leicester Tigers' Playing 4 Health programme.

Children at Folville Junior, Charnwood Primary, St Thomas More Catholic, Granby Primary and Hazel Primary schools all got to play at the home of the Tigers.

The children took on a series of physical activities including relay races, throwing and the Tigers own Speed Pass Challenge.

Playing 4 Health sees Tigers, Leicester City Football Club, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Leicester Riders Basketball Club and Leicester Hockey Club working together with the Leicester Sports Partnership Trust, Public Health, Leicester City Council and Leicestershire and Rutland Sport.

It aims to provide free multi-skills coaching sessions across Leicester for children in school years 3 and 4.

Each school receives five weeks of coaching, focused around the physical capabilities of the children and challenging them to be more physically active rather than sports specific ability.

A second Playing 4 Health festival will be held at the University of Leicester’s sports grounds in Stoughton Road on June 20.
