Leicester Tigers have finalised plans for three warm-up fixtures before the start of next season.

Following this weekend’s Aviva Premiership Final and a summer break, the Tigers players will return to work to prepare for 2013/14 and will have a first pre-season fixture against French Top 14 side Montpelier in the Legion Geneva Challenge in Switzerland on Friday, August 9.

The Legion Geneva Challenge brings together two Aviva Premiership clubs and two Top 14 sides for back-to-back fixtures on one day, with Harlequins against Racing Metro at 5pm, then Tigers against Montpelier at 8.30pm local time at the Stade de la Praille in Geneva.

Tigers will also travel to face RFU Championship side Jersey on Saturday, August 24 (3pm) after a successful debut trip to the Channel Islands last summer.

The final pre-season fixture is against 2012 Heineken Cup finalists Ulster Rugby at Welford Road on Saturday, August 31 (3pm). Admission to this fixture is included in 2013/14 season tickets. Match ticket sales for all other supporters will be confirmed shortly.

Director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “Every year we look to have a mixture of environments to play our warm-up games and we have another good combination this year.

“We have players joining the summer training schedule at different times after their international tours, but everything is geared up to being prepared for the start of the new Aviva Premiership season in September.

"Being part of the Legion Geneva Challenge is something new for us and we’ll be looking forward to that.

“We had a very enjoyable and worthwhile trip to Jersey last summer and we have some strong links with the Channel Islands.

“Jersey are an ambitious club and this time last year they were preparing for their first season as a Championship club as we were preparing for the start of our own season.

“The club and the people of Jersey were very welcoming and we’re delighted to be making a return trip this summer.

“We also went to Ulster last year and they are making the trip to Leicester this summer. It’s our final match in the pre-season programme and I’m sure we’ll get another good crowd at Welford Road to welcome strong opposition before we go into the league programme.”
