Youngs and Murphy honoured by players association

Leicester Tigers players recorded a double at the 15th annual RPA Computacenter Players' Awards on Wednesday evening.

Club captain Geordan Murphy received the TAG Heuer Special Merit Award while scrum-half Ben Youngs topped the online voting to take The Sunday Times Try of the Year for his solo score at Bath.

Julian Salvi was runner-up to Wasps wing Christian Wade in the voting among Aviva Premiership players for the Computacenter Players’ Player of the Year award.

Tom Youngs, who was also shortlisted in Players’ Player category, and Geoff Parling were runners-up to Wasps forward Joe Launchbury in the award for Monitise England Player of the Year 2013.

The RPA Computacenter Players’ Awards supports Restart – official charity of The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) - supporting professional players forced to retire through illness or injury. It provides players and their families with financial, practical and emotional support during difficult times, including help with the cost of medical treatment, rehabilitation equipment, counselling, education and career transition.
