Leicester Tigers forward Ed Slater has withdrawn from the England squad for this summer's tour to Argentina.

The England management announced today that Slater had stood down with a tricep injury, leaving England a squad of 31 ready for their departure to Buenos Aires today.

Kearnan Myall has been added to the squad a replacement for the injured Calum Clark.

England go to Montevideo, Uruguay, to face a CONSUR XV representing the South American nations on June 2 before Tests against Argentina in Salta (June 8) and Buenos Aires (June 15).

Head coach Stuart Lancaster said: “It’s unfortunate for Calum and Ed that they won’t be able to join up with England this summer but I’m sure they will be back and pushing for places next season.

“It means we travel with one player less than originally selected but we have lots of options in the second row and back row to cover for that.”
