Leicester Tigers are delighted to confirm that three senior players have agreed new contracts at the club.

England internationals Mathew Tait and George Chuter, and scrum-half Sam Harrison have all agreed extensions to stay at the Welford Road club.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “We have a very strong core to the squad and a level of continuity is always important to us.

“Mat Tait has had a very good season with us. We all know his natural abilities as a rugby player and he is getting better and better at full-back. He has a great attitude to his work and I’m delighted he has come back so strongly this year. Now we look forward to his continued development in the squad.

“George has been a fantastic servant of this club for more than a decade and, although his first-team opportunities have been more limited this year, he is a good guy to have around the squad and we want him to combine playing with a mentoring role for the younger players, which is an important position for us.

“Sam is one of those Leicester lads at the heart of the squad. He works very hard, he is a very good player and he will continue to improve in a very competitive environment here.”

The 27-year-old Tait made 24 appearances in the 2012/13 season, including a starting role in the Aviva Premeirship Final, and contributed five tries. Harrison, 23, also played in Saturday's Final in 22 appearances for the club this season.

Chuter, 36, joined Tigers in 2001 and has made 286 first-team appearances for the club.

Graham Kitchener, Steve Mafi, Niall Morris, Geoff Parling, Julian Salvi, and Ben and Tom Youngs are among the senior players who have already agreed new terms at Tigers.
