Big support for Scotty's Little Soldiers record bid

Figure image
Rugby is tough enough over 80 minutes, but imagine two teams playing a game over more than 24 hours.

Players representing Scotty’s Little Soldiers and the Armed Forces will be running out at Welford Road, home of the Leicester Tigers, on Friday morning at the start of a world record attempt which should end around lunchtime on Saturday.

The game is being organised to raise awareness and funds for Scotty's Little Soldiers, a charity dedicated to supporting the children of men and women killed in action while serving with the British Armed Forces.

Tgers fans and the general public are encouraged to show their support during the record bid by coming down to Welford Road (tickets are just £5) and cheering the teams on. Gates open at 9am.

The RAF wives choir will be proving a musical backdrop from 9.30am and the red Devils parachute display team are dropping in with the matchball at 10.30am ahead of kick off at 11am.

Supporters are invited to join us in the Holland & Barrett Stand at any time throughout the day and on Saturday morning, with the teams attempting to play right up to midday on Saturday.

Inspired by the experience of army widow Nichola Scott, the charity honours her husband Corporal Lee 'Scotty' Scott's memory - as a soldier and father - and provides an opportunity for the public to show their appreciation of those who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.

The charity provides treats, trips and activities for affected families with the aim of offering a respite from the daily ups and downs of coping without a loved one.

Tigers legend Ben Kay is a patron of Scotty's Little Soldiers and Louis Deacon has adopted the cause as one of his benefit year charities.
