The British & Irish Lions squad for the opening game in Australia on Wednesday includes all six touring Leicester Tigers.

Tom Youngs made his Lions debut as a replacement in the victory over the Barbarians on Hong Kong on Saturday and is retained among the 23, while the remaining five touring Tigers are included for the midweek fixture against Western Force in Perth.

Manu Tuilagi, Dan Cole and Tom Croft are in the starting line-up, with Geoff Parling and Ben Youngs joining Tom Youngs on the replacements bench.

Tour manager Andy Irvine said: "The lads who played in Hong Kong put down a marker and I am sure this team against the Western Force will be just as eager to show their mettle.

“I told the team in Hong Kong that they were custodians of the red jersey. That responsibility is now with this group of players and I am confident they will give their all against the Force. This is the first match of the tour in Australia and the Lions are keen to make a winning start here.”

Head coach Warren Gatland said: “This is a completely new team and the challenge is to ensure that the selected players continue the on-field progress we are seeking.”
