Busiest week of the summer for Rugby Camps

Figure image
Leicester Tigers are running their busiest week of Rugby Camps with more than 400 young players taking part.

Tigers coaches are at Stamford School and Diss, Lichfield and Swaffham rugby clubs with first-team stars and Academy products dropping in for Q&As and to pass on their tips. The Lichfield and Diss camps include tag rugby for under-sevens and under-eights players.

Brett Deacon and Ryan Lamb are due to visit the camp at Stamford School, Fraser Balmain and Lucas Guillaume will drop in at Diss, Mat Tait and Harry Thacker will be Lichfield and Swaffham will welcome Tom Price and Javiah Pohe.

Demand is high for the remaining Tigers Rugby Camps this summer. The residential camp at Bishop Burton College in Yorkshire has already sold out and there are just three spaces remaining on the camp at Market Rasen & Louth RFC (August 12-16). Places are also running out at the North Walsham RFC (August 19-23) and Leamington RFC (August 27-30) camps.

Tigers have added new Rugby Camps dates in the autumn half-term at Chesterfield RUFC and Wymondham RFC in Norfolk. They run from October 28 to November 1. Tigers are also running autumn half-term camps at the British School in the Netherlands and Leicester Forest RFC (October 21-25).

Tigers Rugby Camps are supported by energy efficiency experts Mark Group. They give players who are playing contact rugby the chance to experience top-quality rugby coaching in a professional environment. There is also a series of tag rugby camps for under-sevens and under-eights players.

Coaching is provided by the Tigers community coaching team alongside some of Tigers' top senior Academy coaches and players past and present, including former captain and coach Ian 'Dosser' Smith, ex hooker Troy Thacker and two-time Heineken Cup winner Glenn Gelderbloom.

The camps run closely to the Tigers Academy and youth rugby programme. Each player will also receive a match ticket to an allocated home game, a hot lunch (except Melbourne RFC) a Tigers Rugby Camp T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle and free membership to the Junior Tigers Club.

Click here to book a place, phone the Tigers ticket office on 0844 856 1880 (option 2) or visit the ticket office at Welford Road. The office is open 8.30am-5pm every weekday, until 8pm Wednesdays and 9am-5pm Saturdays.
