Young players train with captain Flood

Less than 24 hours after leading Leicester Tigers to victory over Newcastle Falcons, Toby Flood was back on the pitch coaching potential stars of the future.

The Tigers captain took a training session with Bowdon RUFC Under-12s before talking about his life in rugby and passing on tips in a Q&A. Flood also signed autographs and posed for photos with the players.

England international Flood's visit was part of a special prize won by young player Edward Wheeler during last season’s Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup.

Flood, England's fourth highest points scorer of all time, said: “It was all about getting back to grassroots rugby through the support of Land Rover.

“I really enjoy doing this kind of activity and passing on some of the lessons that I’ve learnt along the way. I’m lucky enough to play rugby as a job and it’s nice to give something back to aspiring young rugby players.”

Edward Wheeler added: “It was really exciting, I have watched Toby Flood on TV and it was amazing to talk to him and have a training session with him. I was really pleased to win this prize for the rest of my team.”

The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is a nationwide tournament for under-11 and under-12 teams, officiated by Premiership Rugby and run in conjunction with all 12 Premiership Rugby clubs.

The Tigers festival will take place on March 23 at Oakham RFC. Tigers players will visit to provide coaching tips and the winning teams will represent Tigers at the Parade of Champions at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final in May.
