It was the second Aviva Premiership game in a row that Tigers have not conceded a try after the home victory against Newcastle Falcons in Round 3.
And Youngs said: “It’s always tough going down to Exeter. We’ve found it hard down there before but we got the win which is the most important thing.
“We stopped them from getting a bonus point. I thought our defence was outstanding at times. We got a lead and probably sat on it a bit too much but we got there in the end.”
Youngs scored his first try of the campaign, finishing off good work at the back a lineout drive by his brother Tom to get Tigers on the board at Sandy Park
And Ben said: “It was good work by Tom. But he was a little bit annoyed because said he was on back inside but I managed to have enough momentum to get over so I was happy.”
Attention now turns to Saturday’s East Midlands derby with Northampton Saints at Welford Road (kick-off 3.15pm).
The fixture is already sold out and Youngs says he and the squad are looking forward to the challenge of taking on their in-form visitors.
“They have had a very good start to the season,” he says “It’s going to be a tough game but we are at home and we’re looking forward to the game and the challenge.”
