International flavour to Tigers Rugby Camps

Tigers Rugby Camps take on an international flavour when they return for the October half-term next week.

Tigers will hold a camp at the British School in the Netherlands near The Hague for a fourth successive year. It runs from Monday, October 21 to Friday, October 25.

The British School in the Netherlands camp is close to a sell-out and will include a tag rugby camp for under-sevens players. Brett Deacon will be part of the Tigers coaching team, passing on some of the wealth of experience he gained in 135 first-team appearances for the club after coming up through the ranks.

It is a busy week of Rugby Camps for the Tigers community team, who will also be at Oakham School. All Black Scott Hamilton and England Saxon Ed Slater are due to visit for a Q&A and to pass on their tips. Oakham School will also host a three-day tag rugby camp (October 21-23).

Leicester Forest RFC will also host a Tigers Rugby Camp next week when experienced hooker Rob Hawkins and Jamie Gibson, who was part of the England tour to South Africa in 2012, will pay a visit for a Q&A.

Norfolk’s Wymondham RFC, meanwhile, will host a Tigers Rugby Camp for the first time from Monday, October 28 to Friday, November 1.

Tom Croft, the Tigers, England and British & Irish Lions back-rower is due to pop in for a Q&A and to pass on some of his tips to the young players.

Tigers Rugby Camps are supported by energy efficiency experts Mark Group. They give under-nines to under-16s players in contact rugby the chance to experience top-quality rugby coaching in a professional environment. The tag rugby camps are for under-sevens and under-eights players.

Coaching is provided by the Tigers community coaching team alongside some of Tigers' top senior academy coaches and players past and present, including former captain and coach Ian 'Dosser' Smith, ex hooker Troy Thacker and two-time Heineken Cup winner Glenn Gelderbloom.

The camps run closely to the Tigers Academy and youth rugby programme. Each player will also receive a match ticket to an allocated home game, a hot lunch, a Tigers Rugby Camp T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle and free membership to the Junior Tigers Club.

Click here to book a place, phone the Tigers ticket office on 0844 856 1880 (option 2) or visit the ticket office at Welford Road. The office is open 8.30am-5pm every weekday, until 8pm Wednesdays and 9am-5pm Saturdays.
