Tigers won all five games of the opening event of the campaign at the city’s De Montfort University on Saturday and Sunday.

They kicked off with a 56-20 victory over the Plymouth-based West Country Hawks. Tigers followed it up with a 58-21 win against the Solent Sharks before ending Saturday with a 69-24 victory over the Cardiff Pirates.

Tigers continued their winning form on Sunday a 38-8 victory over the Hammerheads, the Solent Sharks B team before their first Coloplast Super Series event of the season ended with a 51-16 win against the Caledonian Crushers.

The results left Tigers top of the pool on 15 points with Pirates second on 13 and Sharks in third on 11.

Captain James Price said: “It was a great performance from the team. We gave opportunities to some young players and to finish with five wins from five is excellent.

“The players, the staff and the coaches are thrilled with the result and the performance.”
