Prima Tiger Cup at Tamworth

A record-breaking season of Prima Tiger Cup action continues this weekend at Tamworth Rugby Club.

This is the biggest-ever year for the tournament with more clubs signed up and more players than ever before.

The Prima Tiger Cup, sponsored by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, is a free-to-enter contact-based rugby tournament open to under-10s teams with the chance to play at the home of Leicester Tigers in the knockout stages.

After the success of last weekend’s opening festival in Norfolk where teams from Holt and North Walsham secured their places in the knockout rounds, it is Tamworth RFC who host the Derbyshire and Staffordshire festival on Sunday.

Entries include Tamworth, Moseley, Stoke on Trent, Old Laurentians, Newcastle Under Lyme, Bromsgrove, Sutton Coldfield, Stratford Upon Avon, Wolverhampton and Burton rugby clubs.

The teams will be split into two leagues and the winners of each league will play the runners-up from the opposite league to find the two sides who qualify to play at Welford Road.

The third festival, for the Leicestershire and Warwickshire region, is at Lutterworth RFC on November 3 and the remaining festivals are at Newmarket RFC on November 10 and Mellish RFC on November 17.
