Back-rower Noone scored the vital try shortly after half-time to give Tigers the lead for the first time after hosts Worcester had got off to a flying start with a 10-point lead in the opening quarter of the game.
Noone converted some concerted pressure into Tigers’ opening try in the 46th minute, diving into the right-hand corner after a quick pass from Jordan Crane as the forward pack battered away at the Worcester line.
The Irish back-rower said: “I can’t really say I did much for the try but credit to the front five because they did really well to get us there. Jordan put me in and I just flopped over the line!”
It was his fourth try in five Tigers appearances in the LV= Cup following his debut exactly a year ago.
“I thought the front five gave us good go-forward and in the back row we were able to carry ball quite a lot and David Mele kept us on the front foot,” Noone said.
“We had the freedom to go out and play and at times we did that.
“It’s a good win. It wasn’t perfect but we’re happy at the moment and we take a lot of good things out of it. We’ll look at again and come back to reality on Monday!
“We didn’t start the game too well and at 10-0 down we’re looking at each other and we just got our heads down and came out fighting. That was the mentality for the rest of the 80 minutes.
“At half-time we were back in the game at 10-9. You just wipe the slate clean and keep going and try to do the little things well. And the mentality in the second half of the game was to keep fighting and kick on.”
