It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for the Leicester Tigers players away on international duty.

England’s autumn international series closed with a 30-22 to world champions New Zealand at Twickenham on Saturday.

England, included Dan Cole in the starting XV and introduced Tom Youngs, Geoff Parling, Toby Flood and Ben Youngs from the bench, while Dan Carter made his 100th Test appearance for the All Blacks.

The White Rose trailed New Zealand 17-0 inside the opening 20 minutes after tries for Julian Savea and Kieran Read.

But England fought back through Joe Launchbury’s try and 17 points from Owen Farrell to lead 22-20 on the hour.

However, a second try for Savea, converted by Aaron Cruden who also landed a penalty, extended the All Blacks’ unbeaten run in 2013 to 13 games.

Marcos Ayerza and Pablo Matera started for Argentina in their 40-6 defeat to Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The Argentina side also included former Tigers Horacio Agulla and Lucas Amorosino while Gethin Jenkins won his 100th cap for Wales.

Mike Phillips, George North, Toby Faletau and Ken Owens scored the Wales tries with the rest of the points from the boot of Leigh Halfpenny. Nicolas Sanchez scored the Pumas points with two penalties.

Blaine Scully was among the try-scorers for the USA Eagles in their dramatic 25-23 victory over Georgia in Rustavi.

Scully dotted down under the posts after good work by Saracens’ full-back Chris Wyles and captain Todd Clever.

But it was Adam Siddall who was the match-winner, the fly-half landed the decisive penalty in the final minute which secured the USA their first win of 2013.

Siddall kicked the winning penalty from 40m, minutes after a penalty from Georgia's Merab Kvirikashvili looked to have won the game for the home team.

Kvirikashvili scored a try and kicked 13 points for Georgia, whose other try was scored by Merab Sharikadze.

The Eagles tries came from Wyles, Scully and prop Nick Wallace – who ran his score in from 40m.

Meanwhile, former Tigers prop Martin Castrogiovanni made his 100th international appearance for Italy, as did his captain Sergio Parisse, in the Azzuri's 37-31 victory over Fiji.

Fiji received five yellow cards in the game and at one stage were reduced to 11 men. Italy led 20-5 at half-time but Fiji threatened a come-back as Napolini Nalaga and Timoci Nagusa crossed late on.
