Parling's was named the Sexiest Beard alongside Hollywood actor George Clooney in a Valentine's Day vote in February this year.
Now he has been placed on a 12-man shortlist for the Beard of the Year 2013, alongside the likes of TV presenter Jeremy Paxman, Everton and USA footballer Tim Howard and England cricketer Matt Prior.
Actor John Hurt currently leads the way with journalist Francis Wheen and Billy Bragg, the singer-songwriter and activist second and third in the voting.
The vote is organised by the Beard Liberation Front, an informal network of beard wearers, and Tigers and #TeamParling fans can vote for him by clicking here.
BLF organiser Keith Flett said: “You need only look on the men’s fashion pages to see that beards are hip in 2013.
“But Beard of the Year is not just about how trendy the beard is, it is whether the beard makes a positive impact in the public eye and promotes a good image of the hirsute.”
