A 15-14 victory at the Stade Yves du Manoir kept Tigers in the mix for quarter-final qualification. They trail Pool 5 leaders Ulster by three points, and host the Irish province in the pool’s concluding weekend.
“Before that Ulster game we’ve got to focus on our game in Treviso,” said No8 Waldrom.
“We’ve been to Treviso before and we know they are tough opposition, especially at their own place.
“They’ve given us a couple of frights in previous years with Alesana Tuilagi scoring a last-minute try in my first year and then the penalty try in the last minute to win last time.
“There are two massive games left in the pool but our focus has to be on Treviso first.”
Tries from Tom Youngs and Vereniki Goneva sealed a first Tigers win in France since 2006 and completed a home-and-away double over Montpellier.
“This is my first win in France,” said Waldrom. “It was very important and sets us up well for the next two games in the pool in the new year.
“Montpellier had some big boys in the team, it was very physical and you try not to get smashed too many times! But it’s great to be involved in a game like that.
“Even when we were down on the scoreboard you just keep going and believing in what you’re doing. We played some decent rugby in the first half and said at half-time that we just had to stay positive. Everybody stuck to the game-plan and stuck in there for the whole 80 minutes.”
At 14-5 down in the second half Waldrom says there was no panic in the ranks and a level of composure which served the team well in the last-minute score from Goneva.
“You just want to focus on getting the ball back at the next phase and go from there,” Waldrom said.
“There was no screaming or getting down on ourselves, it is about getting hold of the ball from the kick-off, getting some decent territory and building our game again.
“We did that well and we kept playing. There was some great skill in there from one to 15 for the last score with good hands from Ed Slater and Marcos Ayerza with the scoring pass and Niki’s finish.
“I was on the bench and you’re just praying the team would finish the opportunity.
“In the end it was a job well done and you’ve got to be proud of what we’ve done here. But then you get home and back to work and look forward to another game this weekend.
"Now it’s back to the Aviva Premiership. We will take some confidence from here as well.”
