Gibson raring to return to work

Jamie Gibson says the Leicester Tigers players who were rested during the LV= Cup period are raring to get back to work.

Gibson returns to the Tigers back-row for tonight’s Aviva Premiership clash with Worcester Warriors at Sixways after a two-week break for the Anglo-Welsh cup (kick-off 7.45pm, live on BT Sport).

He joins the likes of captain Toby Flood, Julian Salvi and Marcos Ayerza who were rested during the last two rounds of the LV= Cup.

The rest has given Gibson, and other members of the Tigers squad, the chance to freshen up and he says they are raring to get going again.

“A few of the boys have had a couple of weeks off,” said the 23-year-old. “We’ve managed to freshen up a little bit, clear up any little niggles and we’re looking forward to getting back to work.

“There are 10 regular season games left and we need every point we can get. If we can build some momentum during the Six Nations period then when the internationals come back you are in a good place to push for places at the end of the season.”

Tigers return to Welford Road next Sunday (February 16, kick-off 2pm) to face Gloucester Rugby. Match tickets are on sale now from the ticket office, on 0844 856 1880 (option 2) and online by clicking here.
