The next generation of Leicester Tigers will lock horns in the Land Rover Premiership Cup on Sunday backed by club captain Toby Flood.

The Tigers' Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup takes place at Oakham RFC.

The under 11 and under 12 grassroots rugby festival is part of a series of nationwide tournaments which provide aspiring young players with the opportunity to  develop their skills in a professionally organised environment, in a fantastically run festival with their local Premiership Rugby club.

The tournaments provide the chance for the participating players to meet Tigers players, who will be supporting the teams and offering coaching tips in between games.

It’s hoped this will provide inspiration to the young rugby players and add to what will be a memorable day of rugby.

The rugby clubs taking part are Oakham, Sutton Coldfield, Bury St. Edmunds, North Walsham, Wymondham, Leicester Forest, Coalville, Telford, Burton, Oadby Wyggestonian, Trentham, Market Bosworth, Tamworth, Mosborough, Lutterworth, Hinckley, Market Harborough, Telford Hornets, Syston, Leek, Loughborough, Kenilworth and Barkers Butts.

The two winning sides will be rewarded with a special place to represent Tigers in the Land Rover Parade of Champions, which will see the youngsters parading in front of a sell-out Twickenham crowd at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final in May.

The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, now in its sixth year, has seen more than 40,000 children take part from all over the country. So, get involved and support the young stars of your local clubs, in developing their skills, abilities and supporting them to participate in regular sporting activity.

Land Rover is committed to the development of rugby at grassroots level. This can be witnessed through their sponsorship of the Premiership Rugby Academy, as well as the provision of a Land Rover Discovery 4 to each of the Premiership Rugby clubs’ Community Departments. This ensures that Land Rover is always at the heart of rugby.

Tigers skipper Flood said: "These grassroots initiatives – supported by partners such as Land Rover – are the foundations of rugby in the community, and something we should be really proud of.

"I'm sure there will be some of the next generation of Leicester Tigers players on show. I still remember playing at this age and loving my rugby so I can't wait to get along on Sunday and see the children enjoying the game like I did."
