The Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Team were crowned Division 2 champions after finishing their debut season with a 100 per cent winning record.

Tigers won their five games in the latest Coloplast Super Series at De Montfort University’s Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre in Leicester.

It followed their perfect records on the first two weekends of action in the competition earlier in the season.

Jamie Stead, of the Tigers Wheelchair Team, said: “Three super series and three best in classes, thanks everybody, but winning the league with the tigers was the best moment though.

“Well done to everybody involved with the club. It’s such a great achievement for our first season as a team.”

Tigers kicked off their latest weekend of fixtures with 72-27 win against the Sharks, who are based at Southampton Solent University.

The Tigers followed it up with a 57-31 win against the South Wales Pirates, of Cardiff, before ending Saturday’s action with a 66-16 victory over Plymouth-based West Country Hawks.

Sunday kicked off for the Tigers team with a 61-14 victory over the Hammerheads, the Sharks’ development squad.

And they were awarded their final game against the Caledonian Crushers, who did not attend the event.
