Parling ready for the run-in

Geoff Parling says Leicester Tigers' ability to grind out results during the season was a key factor in reaching the Aviva Premiership semi-finals.

Tigers secured a play-off place for the tenth successive season with victory at Sale Sharks last weekend and complete their regular league campaign against Saracens at a sold-out Welford Road on Saturday (3.15pm kick-off).

“It’s nothing yet,” said Parling. “We did have some issues mid-season, injuries to contend with and, at times, we didn’t play as well as we can.

“What we did when we were underperforming a little bit was get the wins, which was important, and those wins that we picked up are massive now and we can push on.”

Parling made his first start of 2014 at the AJ Bell Stadium after returning from injury and picked up the Aviva Man-of-the-Match Champagne after the game.

And the England and British & Irish Lions lock says his looking forward to the run-in.

“No matter how much training you do,” he said. “When you are back playing, especially on a hot sunny day it is a little bit different. But I am all fine and looking forward to the run-in.”
