A third speaker has been added to the line-up for the FREE Mueller Sports Medicine and FirstAid4Sport Coach Education event with Leicester Tigers.

Ed Gannon, senior lead strength and conditioning coach, joins head of medicine and rehabilitation Julie Hayton and Steven Baker, who heads up the first aid functions at Tigers’ Rugby Camps for the event.

Supported by Mueller Sports Medicine and FirstAid4Sport, the session is entitled Injury prevention and rehabilitation in the elite and club environment. It will be held at Newark RFC on Thursday, June 26 (6pm).

Gannon will focus on the physical performance characteristics that define elite rugby union and how coaches can incorporate strength and conditioning to develop those qualities, improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.

Hayton will provide a talk as well as demonstrations of strapping, while Baker will discuss how he deals with the injuries clubs see every week with adults, minis and juniors players.

This is the first Coach Education session to be held away from Welford Road. The event is FREE to attend. Click here to register your club and attendees. Places are available on a first-come first-served basis.

All attendees will be automatically entered into a draw to win a FirstAid4Sport Advanced Rugby First Aid Kit. The winner will be drawn on the night of the event.

Mueller and FirstAid4Sport will be on hand to talk about clubs’ medical requirements.

The aim of the Tigers Coach Education programme is to help coaches in the development of their players and teams at any level, including seniors, by taking the successful programmes from the Tigers Academy back to the clubs.
