Rugby clubs have given their thumbs up to the free Mueller Sports Medicine and FirstAid4Sport Coach Education with Leicester Tigers.

Tigers backroom staff were joined by representatives of clubs from right across the region for the session at Newark RFC.

Julie Hayton, head of medicine and rehabilitation, Ed Gannon, senior lead strength and conditioning coach and Steven Baker, who heads up the first aid functions at Tigers’ Rugby Camps, were the guest speakers.

And Tim Hands, Market Harborough Under-13s coach and first-aider, said the club is already looking at how to build on the session.

He said: “It was genuinely enriching to benefit from the information, demonstrations and their obvious enthusiasm for what they do.

“Enthused by what we had heard, we had a great debate about our plans for next season's training on our way back to Market Harborough – real food for thought.”

The Market Harborough coaches were joined by delegates from Lincoln RFC, Mellish RUFC, Market Rasen & Louth RUFC, Amber Valley RUFC, Ashby RFC, Sleaford RFC, Hinckley RFC, Mansfield RFC, Wisbech Grammar School, Matlock RFC, Fakenham RUFC, Lancaster University RUFC, Coventry University, Grimsby RUFC and host club Newark RFC.

Tigers will take their renowned Rugby Camps to a number of the clubs during the summer, including  Market Harborough, Market Rasen & Louth and Lincoln RFC.
