A team of Leicester Tigers former players were winners of the Paladin Legends Trophy at the Legends Rugby Festival in Wimbledon on Saturday.

A large crowd enjoyed the sunshine as teams from clubs including Tigers, Bristol, Gloucester, Harlequins, London Irish, London Scottish, London Welsh, Saracens, Wasps and Worcester contested the Legends Trophy.

Former internationals on show included Lewis Moody, Sam Vesty, Henry Paul, Paul Sackey and Dan Scarbrough.

Tigers beat Harlequins 22-0 in the final with tries from John Holtby, Adam Billig, Scott Bemand and Ben Gerry.

Former England captain Moody, who made more than 200 appearances for Tigers up to 2010, said: “We’re really proud to be crowned winners of the Paladin Legends Trophy. I’m sure we’ll feel this over the next few days, but for now, I can’t stop grinning.

“Great weather, great day with the family and friends, great rugby – what more could you want? I’ll definitely be back next year.”

Former Wasps and England wing Paul Sackey added: “The weather was immense and it was great see some of the guys again. Once you step back on that pitch, all the competitive juices start to flow and it’s like nothing’s changed. We’re disappointed not to have won, but we’ll be back next year to take on the Tigers.”
