Player sponsors and executive box holders enjoyed a day with the Leicester Tigers squad, watching training and seeing behind the scenes at Oval Park.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill, welcoming the club’s guests, said: “Everyone involved in the club is part of one big team, all aiming for the same thing on the pitch.

“Our supporters have an emotional attachment to the Leicester Tigers, which is great, and all of our sponsors not only make a valuable contribution in financial terms, but also have that emotional attachment to the club and what the Tigers are about.

“Everything the club does and any revenues the club generate are put back in to support the team with the best facilities possible and we thank all of you for playing a big part in that.”

Player sponsors watched the morning training session at Oval Park, shared in tours around the facilities with guides including chief executive Simon Cohen and former club captain Geordan Murphy, and then met the players for barbeque lunch.

Welford Road box holders were able to watch Cockerill and the coaching team put the squad through their places in the afternoon training session as they work towards the start of the new season. They also toured the facilities and enjoyed a pitchside tea.

Rachel Startin from Signature South Lodge, sponsors of Tigers second row Sebastian de Chaves, said: “It’s great for us to be able to see how the players work and to appreciate how much goes into getting the team on to the pitch.”
