Anthony Allen says competition for places and strength in depth can only help Leicester Tigers as they approach the new season.
Seremaia Bai, Christian Loamanu and Freddie Burns are among the new signings for 2014/15, all keen to earn places in the Tigers backline for the new campaign.
“The boys know competition for places is tight,” said centre Allen. “That’s good within the squad.
“We had a first hit-out at Nottingham last weekend, we didn’t get the result we wanted and there were a few boys disappointed, but everyone can push on and do what they need to do and get better.
“There’s pressure because you have to play well to get a place in the team but we can rotate too and I think that’s good for everyone in the team.”
Tigers are away to Edinburgh this weekend, before a final opportunity for a pre-season run-out in the home game against Cardiff Blues next Friday (August 29, 7.30pm). The Aviva Premiership opener is against Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road on Saturday, September 6 (3pm). Match tickets and season tickets are available now.
