We're focused on the new season, says Crane

With the focus firmly on the opening game of the Aviva Premiership campaign Jordan Crane says the Leicester Tigers players will be glad to see the back of pre-season.

Tigers warmed up for the visit of Newcastle Falcons to Welford Road on Saturday (3pm) with a hard-earned win over Cardiff Blues in their last fixture of the summer.

And back-rower Crane said: “I think everyone will be glad that pre-season is over because now you are playing for real. Everyone is ready to go for the shirt.

“As much as pre-season is good to get everyone ready, to get the new guys in and playing, to start building partnerships and some continuity in the team, now it’s for real.”

Tigers scored tries through Robert Barbieri and Ben Youngs, with Freddie Burns kicking the rest of the points, to record a 21-17 win against Cardiff.

It was Tigers’ second of pre-season following the win at Edinburgh and Crane says it’s good to develop a winning habit.

“It was good to get the win,” he said. “A winning habit is a good thing to have.

“We have won the last two games, two good tough games to get us ready for Saturday.”
