Strong season ticket sales and matchday attendances, plus increased sponsorship and commercial revenues, have enabled Leicester Tigers to announce increased turnover and an operating profit of £482,000 for the year ending June 2014.

Support for Leicester Tigers, in commercial terms and in terms of the numbers following the team, has never been greater, and this is reflected in the financial figures for 2013/14.

In the twelve months to 30 June 2014, company turnover reached £19.4 million (£19.0 million in 2013) and operating profit rose by more than 20% from £396,000 to £482,000.

Season ticket numbers for 2013/14 reached a figure of 14,945, and there were strong performances in sponsorship and corporate sales as well as an increase in central revenues.

Club chairman Peter Tom CBE said: “Our significantly improved financial performance in 2013/14 is a tribute to the strength of support for the Leicester Tigers, its relationships with many major commercial partners and to its business strategy.

“A strong financial performance also reflects the club’s diverse revenue streams.

“Revenue on match ticket sales was £5.6million and there was a 7% increase in revenue from season tickets with the number of season ticket holders rising to just under 15,000.

“The loyalty of our supporters remains at the heart of the club. As attendances continue to grow, the team attracts increasing numbers of family groups and young supporters, and the number of groups from outside our immediate area also reflects the strength of that support.

“On behalf of the Board of directors, I thank all of the players, officials and staff who work so hard for the club to achieve these impressive results and maintain the growth of the business.”

In announcing the results, Chairman Peter Tom thanked Garry Adey and Roy Jackson who are leaving the Board after lengthy service to the club in both the amateur and professional eras.

“As a former player, Garry’s links with Tigers date back to 1967 and he gave outstanding service in 381 senior appearances as well as being capped by England, while Roy has been associated with the club since 1982,” added Tom.

“As they leave the Board, they are awarded Life Membership in recognition of their service.”

The Leicester Tigers board will welcome two new executive directors – Andrea Allen as Commercial Director and also Ian Walker as Finance Director.

“Both Andrea and Ian have already played significant roles as part of the club’s senior management team and we look forward to their contribution at Board level,” added Tom.
