Goldsmiths Player of the Month Julian Salvi was the joint leading tackler after the opening round of the European Rugby Champions Cup, statistics released today have revealed.

Salvi made 22 tackles in the 25-18 victory over Ulster Rugby on Saturday evening, according to tournament organisers European Professional Club Rugby. It was a figure matched only by Joe Launchbury (Wasps) and Magnus Lund (Sale Sharks).

Captain Ben Youngs, the Heineken Man-of-the-Match on Saturday, had the most assists in Round One, having a creative hand in all three of Tigers’ tries. He also made more ground in the match than any other player, making a total of 67 metres.

And the Tigers lineout, led by Graham Kitchener, functioned particularly well on Ulster ball, stealing possession on six of the visitors' throws.
