Leicester Tigers have confirmed that backs coach Paul Burke has left the club.

Former Ireland international fly-half Burke joined Leicester as a player in 2006 and later joined the backroom staff as kicking coach/assistant backs coach. He stepped up to the role of backs coach during the summer of 2014 following the departure of Matt O’Connor.

Burke played in Tigers' double-winning squad of 2007 and as a coach made a significant contribution in the club’s most recent successes, including Premiership title wins in 2009, 2010 and 2013, and qualification for the European Cup Final in 2009.

Tigers executive chairman Peter Tom CBE said: “Paul has been a good servant to the club and was very much liked by players and staff, first as an experienced member of the squad and then as part of the coaching team, initially under Heyneke Meyer and then Richard Cockerill.

“We are grateful for Paul’s hard work on behalf of the club over the last eight-and-a-half years and we wish him well for the future.”
