Remembrance commemorations on Tuesday

Figure image
Tuesday's match between Leicester Tigers and the Barbarians will provide the central focus to Remembrance Day commemorations at Welford Road this year.

Although Tigers have another home game on Sunday, the commemorations will be staged at the Barbarians match as the visitors have a link with the Royal British Legion this year, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One.

There will be a minute’s silence ahead of kick-off in tribute to those who have lost their lives in conflict, and especially in memory of the Barbarians and Leicester Tigers players killed in action. Supporters are encouraged to make their way to their places in the stadium in good time.

During the minute’s silence, the names of the 19 Leicester Tigers players lost during World War One will be displayed on the big screens at each end of the ground.

Supporters can make a donation to the annual Poppy Appeal around the stadium on Tuesday.

Tickets for Tuesday's match are available now from the Tigers ticket office. Call in at Welford Road (8.30am-5pm weekdays), phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or click here to buy online.
