Tigers and Baa-baas combine for tributes

Figure image
The players and supporters of the Leicester Tigers and Barbarians joined in Remembrance tributes at Welford Road on Tuesday.

As the Barbarians have a link with the Royal British Legion for the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One, Tuesday’s fixture was chosen as the focal point of Tigers’ tributes in the build-up to Remembrance Day.

A minute’s silence was observed ahead of kick-off, when the names of the 19 Tigers players killed in action during World War One were displayed on the big screens at each end of the stadium.

We thank all supporters who also made a donation to the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal at the stadium.

Both teams also wore the poppy emblem on their shirt for the historic fixture, which featured 13 tries and a 59-26 win for the visitors.
