Mellish RFC hosted another successful day in the Prima Tigers Cup festival for under-10s teams on Sunday.

The Prima Tiger Cup, sponsored by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, is a free-to-enter contact-based tournament scheduled to run over five festivals covering the Tigers Academy region and beyond, with the opportunity to play at Welford Road in the later stages.

Teams from Atherstone, Bridgnorth, Lincoln, Market Rasen & Louth, Matlock, Melbourne, Melton Mowbray, Nottingham Corsairs, Old Northamptonians, Paviours, Scunthorpe and Syston took part in the fourth festival of the season.

Scunthorpe have been invited back to play in the Prima Tiger Cup qualifiers at Welford Road later this year while Bridgnorth secured their place in the Prima Tiger Bowl qualifiers, also to be played at Welford Road, home of the Leicester Tigers.

All the teams observed a minute’s silence for Remembrance Sunday before the action got under way and Tigers centre Terrence Hepetema was on hand too to encourage all the teams.

With more than 70 entries each season, the Prima Tiger Cup is the largest and most prestigious single age-group competition in the rugby calendar. The remaining festival is to be held at Newmarket RFC this Sunday.
