Scotty's award for Tigers Family

Leicester Tigers have been named Corporate Fundraiser of the Year by charity Scotty's Little Soldiers.

Scotty’s, which helps children of servicemen and women killed in action, received stunning support from supporters and sponsors after being adopted by Tigers as an official club charity.

Tigers hosted a 24 hour rugby match between teams representing Scotty’s and the Armed Forces in 2013 in support of Scotty’s which has been officially recognised as the longest ever continuous game by the Guinness Book of Records.

Tigers fans have helped raise the profile of the charity as well as funds to help their work, while official partners DX have taken the charity to their heart, presenting them with £60,000 at last season’s End of Year Awards and creating a special Scotty’s-inspired design for one of their delivery lorries.

Tigers were unable to attend the fundraising ball at which the award was presented but instead Petar Czetkovic, DX chief executive, accepted it on the club’s behalf.

Chris Rose, Tigers head of brand, said: “To receive an award for doing something we love is a real pleasure.

“The club have taken Scotties to heart, as did the whole of the Tigers Family, and although their tenure as official charity is over for now, we know that we will keep in touch and support Nikki for the foreseeable future.”
