Bid for Tigers poppy shirts

Bid for a signed Leicester Tigers 'poppy' shirt and help the Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal.

Tigers are auctioning three shirts printed specifically for the historic fixture against the Barbarians at Welford Road on November 4 which, in the event, were not worn during the match. The shirts feature a poppy emblem and have been signed by selected members of the first-team squad.

The game against the Barbarians provided the central focus to Remembrance Day commemorations at Welford Road this year, while the Baa Baas had a link with the Royal British Legion to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One.

Owen Williams has signed one of the three shirts, which has a ‘J’ on the back, the letter traditionally associated with fly-half in the days that Tigers wore letters rather than numbers on their kit. The shirt also has Williams’ surname on the back.

Vereniki Goneva has signed the second shirt up for auction. It has the letter ‘K’ on the back, the letter traditionally associated with the left wing position, as well as his surname.

Freddie Burns has signed the third of the shirts. It was printed with the letter ‘J’ and his surname on the back but was a spare shirt on the evening as Burns started the game at full-back.

The online auction is underway and closes on Friday, December 5. Click here to place your bid.

Tigers are next in action against Wasps in the Aviva Premiership at Welford Road on Saturday (kick-off 3pm). Tickets are available now. Call in at Welford Road, phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or click here to book online - you can also use the new print at home facility for tickets bought online.

England's match against Australia will be shown 'as live' on screens around the stadium after the Tigers match too so you don't have to miss any of the autumn international rugby either.
