Matchday guide: Tigers versus Toulon

Leicester Tigers host double European champions RC Toulon on Sunday in the biggest game of the season so far at Welford Road. Kick-off is at 5.30pm and tickets are available now.

Toulon, home of World Cup winners Bryan Habana, Bakkies Botha and Juan Smith (South Africa), have a squad full of international players including French caps Mathieu Bastareaud and Maxime Mormoz, Mamuka Gorgodze (Georgia), Ali Williams and Chris Masoe (New Zealand), Australian trio Drew Mitchell, James O’Connor and Matt Giteau, England’s Delon and Steffon Armitage, and former Tigers prop Martin Castrogiovanni (Italy).

Winners in 2013 and 2014, Toulon are chasing an unprecedented hat-trick in Europe’s elite club competition and head to Welford Road as French league leaders too.

Tigers home attendances for European fixtures will this weekend top one million since the first season in continental competition in 1996/97, but there is still time to book your place at this game.

Visit the Tigers ticket office or phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2). The office is open 8.30am-5pm weekdays, until 8pm Wednesdays, 9am-5pm Saturday and from 9am up on Sunday up to kick-off this week.

Or click here to book online any time. You can also use the ‘print at home’ option.

If this is your first Tigers matchday – or you are bringing someone new to the game – there is even a chance to win a great prize. As part of the ‘My First Matchday’ simply sign up a first-time visitor at leicestertigers.com/myfirstmatchday or speak to a Games Keeper from our customer services team at the stadium and you will go into a prize draw to win a bag of Tigers goodies. First-time visitors can also pick up a My First Matchday certificate signed by club captain Ed Slater from Games Keepers.

All matchday ticket collections are from the Collection Point on the plaza outside the MET-Rx Stand, and not from the ticket office. Please allow plenty of time for ticket collections and to get to your places in the stadium ahead of kick-off.

Sunday’s fixture is included in Tigers season tickets.

As this is the last home game before Christmas, we’re hosting the Tigers Christmas Market from 1.30pm on Sunday.

Based on the plaza outside the MET-Rx Stand at Welford Road, the market includes Santa’s grotto, reindeer, carol-singers and Christmas music, hog-roast and refreshments, plus stalls to inspire your Christmas shopping. The Matt Hampson Foundation will be there with their calendars featuring the Tigers players, and the Marcos Ayerza Testimonial Committee will have merchandise available and details of forthcoming events. There is a ‘shop and drop’ collection facility so you can pick up your shopping after the match.

There is a special showing of Disney’s ‘Frozen’ on the big screen in the Junior Tigers Club area in Final Whistle at 2pm for younger supporters in the build-up to the game.

The Junior Tigers Club area is open from 1.30pm with activities and competitions, including the opportunity to run out with Welford the mascot as a Tiger Cub. JTC membership is free and you can sign up on Sunday.

Also, one young supporter will face the club mascot in a festive edition of Challenge Welford on the pitch at half-time and contestants in The Big Boot will be chasing a jackpot prize of £1,500.

The Tigers Club Store is open all day with the full range of home and away kit, leisurewear and souvenirs plus the ‘3 for 2’ mix-and-match Christmas range. There is a pop-up shop on the plaza and extra merchandise units inside the stadium after the turnstiles are opened.

The new 500-page Official History of Leicester Tigers is available to buy in Final Whistle before and after the game. This definitive history of the club includes season-by-season stats, player biographies, full club history from 1880 and an encyclopaedia section full of facts and figures, making this an ideal gift for any Tigers fan. The price is £45.

A special Christmas edition of the Tigers match programme includes our ever-popular interview with The Three Wise Men from the playing squad and an exclusive peak at the players’ Christmas wish-lists as well as Matt Hampson’s Heroes & Villains column and all the news and views from inside Welford Road. The 100-page programme is on sale throughout the stadium, price £3.

We are hosting a matchday collection for the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust, an official Tigers charity which is raising awareness of Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) and promoting education and training about how to react to a condition that often strikes without any warning.

Arriva’s special matchday bus services are in operation on five routes, from Market Bosworth, Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Oakham and Nuneaton, and there is also a separate minibus service from Coalville. Click here for pick-up points, timetable and fare details.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
