Leicester Tigers players helped to spread Christmas cheer among patients and staff at two of the city's hospitals on Thursday.

Freddie Burns, Seremaia Bai, Gonzalo Camacho, Lawrence Pearce and Ed Milne spent the afternoon at the Leicester Royal Infirmary Children’s Hospital.

They joined some of the children’s activities and a Christmas sing-song with staff as well as distributing sweets and chocolates, signing autographs and posing for photos.

Neil Briggs, Tom Bristow, Sebastian de Chaves and Michele Rizzo delivered sweets and chocolate at Glenfield Hospital, visiting the children and some of the adult wards in the build-up to Christmas.

“It's amazing to help people, just to be a different face for them, and everyone is laughing and having a great time with us,” said Camacho.

Tigers fly-half Burns added: “It's always hard when people are in hospital around Christmas and it's nice just to come in and try to put a smile on their face, especially with the kids.

“We got to sit down with them and play a few games, it's just nice to be able to do that.

“We wish them all a Happy Christmas and the main thing is that people get back healthy as soon as possible.”
