After captaining Leicester Tigers to victory on his 200th appearance for the club Jordan Crane praised the commitment and discipline of his teammates in difficult conditions.Tigers made it back-to-back wins in the Aviva Premiership during the RBS 6 Nations period, following up last weekend’s victory over Gloucester Rugby with a 12-6 success at London Irish on Sunday.
On a wet and windy afternoon at the Madejski Stadium, Freddie Burns kicked two penalties and a drop goal and there was a penalty for David Mele to move Tigers joint fifth in the Aviva Premiership table.
Crane said: “The conditions were horrendous. We had rain, wind, you name it, it was all coming down.
“It was one of those games where you have to dig in, keep going, keep running and keep your discipline. We did that and it was good to get the four points.
“The way we dug it out was great and it will bring a lot of confidence, especially for the young lads who have played a handful of games.”
Tigers return to Welford Road this Saturday to face Sale Sharks (kick-off 3pm), who are level with the Tigers in the Aviva Premiership table.
The game is not scheduled for live TV broadcast and the only place to watch it live and in full is in person at Welford Road.
Crane said the clash represented another important moment in the season as Tigers target the four Aviva Premiership fixtures during the Six Nations.
“We are concentrating on this four-week block while the internationals are away,” said Crane. “We have picked up two wins so far and we have two more games to go. If we can achieve that we will be right up there.”
Tickets for Tigers versus Sale Sharks are available now from the Welford Road ticket office. Call 0116 319 8888 (option 2) or book online by clicking here.
