Parling praises 'outstanding effort' from Tigers

Geoff Parling, the Spire Man-of-the-Match, described the attacking intent of the Leicester Tigers team in Saturday's win over Sale Sharks as "outstanding".Back in action after a month out with a knee injury, Parling was central to the Tigers performance which earned a 28-8 win over a Sale team who started the day one place higher in the table and level on points.   “It was a good performance, especially in the first half,” said Parling, who received a bottle of Champagne after his Spire Man-of-the-Match performance.   “The intent to play was outstanding from us and it was a good win.   “It wasn’t just the set-piece, I thought the way we worked together around the pitch was really good. The guys were geeing each other up, telling each other to work that bit harder, and were outstanding in that.”   Tigers led 20-3 at half-time after a score from Laurence Pearce and a penalty try from a close-range scrum, and added a third when Seremaia Bai crossed with just minutes remaining in the game.   “We didn’t have that fluency in the second half, but we’ll take the win,” said Parling. “We’ll certainly look at the positives in the attacking intent and work-rate for each other.”   Tigers now prepare to face Parling’s former club Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park on Sunday chasing a fourth victory during the Six Nations period.   “Newcastle are playing very well and they have some dangerous runners,” Parling added. “It will be a different challenge to today.   “We just want to take the intent and the attitude from the first half and build on that.” The Spire Man of the Match is supported by Tigers' official healthcare partners Spire Leicester Hospital, who provide excellent private healthcare to patients from across the East Midlands and beyond, and whose physiotherapy team work with the Tigers.
