Leicester Tigers players helped unveil a new sculpture in the centre of the city which is a symbol for the University of Leicester's Centre for Medicine Appeal.Brad Thorn, Freddie Burns, Neil Briggs and Adam Thompstone joined supporters, acacdemics, patients and students for the unveiling of ‘Renewal’, which is being hosted in Highcross shopping centre as the university raises funds for a £42million state-of-the-art Centre for Medicine Building.
The university says the new building will have a significant impact on the training of future doctors, the fight against chronic disease, and revolutionising patient care.
The sculpture by Diane Maclean was commissioned by the university as the symbol of the appeal. It will remain at Highcross until moving to its permanent home at the Centre for Medicine, which is set to open in Lancaster Road in the autumn.
