Leicester Tigers Academy duo Will Evans and Sam Yawayawa made a winning start to their careers at England Under-18 level at Kingston Park, Newcastle on Sunday.Following the final whistle in the Tigers 16-12 win over Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership, a sizeable crowd stayed at Kingston Park to watch England against Scotland age-group sides battle it out.
Engand, with Evans and Yawayawa used as replacements, came through to 39-27 win with the sides
scoring ten tries between them.
Forwards coach Pete Walton said: “We’re delighted to get the win and to score some excellent tries. We knew it would be a quick game and that both sides would give it a go.
“The exciting thing is that there’s loads more to come from these guys. They’ve not had too many training sessions together but there’s a real unity and team spirit and it’s great to see.”
England’s tries came from Darren Atkins, Jonny McPhillips, Joe Craggs, Sam Aspland-Robinson, Theo Brophy Clews and Charlie Capps.
