Leicester Tigers came to the aid of Nick Knowles and his team on the BBC One show DIY SOS during filming in Leicestershire.Programme host Nick sent out his own SOS via Twitter after the show’s builder Julian Perryman ‘pinged his back’ on the first day of recording in Loughborough.   The Tigers social media team responded with an offer of help from the club’s medical department while fly-half Freddie Burns, a huge fan of DIY SOS, took to Twitter to offer his place on the massage table to help out the show.   And so, after training on Tuesday, Julie Hayton, Tigers head of medical and rehabilitation services, and head masseur Jay Pancholi, met up with Nick and Julian to provide a sports massage.   “It was fantastic and we were really grateful,” Nick said. “We use Twitter quite a lot because we can get a quick response and on this occasion it was Julian’s old back injury flared up and we needed someone to see him quickly.   “The guys were fantastic and Julian is a lot better today. The fact that we have Julian working again is great.”   Julie added: “They work very hard and they do a lot of great work to help out people so we were only too pleased to lend a helping hand.   “Also, out of duty to Freddie Burns, who is the world’s biggest DIY SOS fan, we felt we had to help them!”   Tigers have invited the DIY SOS team to be part of the Welford Road crowd on Sunday for the LV= Cup semi-final with Exeter Chiefs. You can join them by booking your place on 0116 319 8888 (option 2), online by clicking here or visiting the Welford Road ticket office. The episode of DIY SOS is due to be broadcast at a later date.
