The Leicester Tigers Foundation has announced Paralympic gold medal discus thrower Dan Greaves as its new ambassador.Leicestershire-born Greaves won gold at the Athens Paralympics, establishing a new world record in the process.   He won silver at London 2012 and at the 2000 Sydney games, and collected a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.   Greaves won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, gold at the 2014 IPC European Champions, and has four won silver medals at the World Championships.   Greaves joins Tigers legend Martin Corry as a Foundation ambassador. He said: “I'm honoured to be an ambassador for the Leicester Tigers Foundation.   “I've been an avid follower of the Tigers since I was small. My claim to fame is that I've even played on the hallowed turf, albeit touch rugby.   “Sport has played a huge role in my life; it will be great to encourage people to have the same opportunities for a better sporting life through the Leicester Tigers Foundation.   “The Foundation can help provide opportunities for a healthier more active lifestyle and all through the enjoyment of sport and exercise.”   The Leicester Tigers Foundation was launched earlier this month. It aims to bring the community together through the power of sport by increasing the number of participants and motivating them towards a more positive future.   The Foundation will focus on four areas: disability in sport, community cohesion, health and education.   It aims to raise £20,000 before the end of the season for Comic Relief to help towards disability programmes.   There will be collections for Comic Relief around the Welford Road stadium at Saturday’s Aviva Premiership game between Tigers and Exeter Chiefs, with fans able to donate at the Tigers ticket office, public bars, programme sellers or by making a donation to the Foundation by clicking here
