Leicester Tigers received an awesome welcome from the people of Philadelphia after the announcement of the Independence Cup fixture against National Rugby Football League's Rough Riders.Scott Clarke, of Tigers, visited the Pennsylvanian city today to help promote the game, which takes place at the 69,000-seat Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, August 8.   It will be the first elite professional rugby match played in the United States by a professional American team.   And Scott visited Philadelphia, America’s fifth largest city, for a series of TV, radio and press interviews.   “It has been absolutely brilliant,” he said. “The stadium and the set-up is staggering.   “On the first evening I visited a local school and they had 60 pupils out there training, which was fantastic to see.   “There is a huge interest and appetite for rugby in the area. The people are excited by the opportunities that the NRFL will create and by the game in August.”   Scott’s day began at 6am with interviews and scrummaging demonstrations on Breakfast on Broad, a sports-talk morning show on the Comcast Network. Jillian Mele, the programme’s sports anchor, tweeted her thanks for the visit after the show.    Afterwards it was off to Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles, for some more interviews with Good Day Philadelphia on Fox 29.   Scott was also set to be interviewed on Philly Sports Talk on Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia and for Philadelphia Eagles TV.   “The welcome has been awesome,” he said. “The whole thing is excellent.”   Tickets for the game go on general sale this Friday (April 17) from www.ticketmaster.com   For more information on the NRFL, see www.NationalRugbyFootballLeague.com
