We'll learn from the season, says Youngs

Ben Youngs says Leicester Tigers will learn from the season and praised the efforts of his teammates in reaching an 11th successive Premiership Rugby semi-final.Tigers finished the regular Aviva Premiership season third to reach the play-offs for an incredible 11th consecutive season, but missed out on a trip to Twickenham after defeat to Bath Rugby at The Rec on Saturday.   And Youngs said the squad can look forward with excitement to next season.   He said: “We worked hard to get to the Aviva Premiership semi-finals, and we reached the LV= Cup semi-final as well. We're gutted to lose in the manner we did but I'm proud of the boys, the scoreline didn't reflect the effort and the endeavour.   “It’s about learning from this season. Next season we’ve got some new guys coming in. We’ve faced a lot of challenges this year but we’ve come through, and we’re really excited about next year.” Scrum-half Youngs has been the on-field skipper for large parts of the season after Ed Slater, who was appointed club captain in the summer, was ruled out for the majority of the campaign with a knee injury. And he said the captaincy has been an "absolute honour".   Youngs said: “It’s been tough at times because of situations but I’ve really enjoyed it. To captain any side is a privilege but to captain Leicester is an absolute honour.   “You only have to look at the list of names who have done it before, the select few who get that privilege, and I’m very proud to have done it this year.   “If I never do it again that’s fine but no one can take that away from me. I’ve tried to do as well as I can and set the example in everything I do.” Season tickets for next season are available now.
