Demolition work on West Stand gathers pace

Figure image
Work has already begun on removing the buildings at the Clubhouse End of Welford Road stadium in preparation for the redevelopment of the West Stand.Contractors were on site immediately after Leicester Tigers' last home game of the season and demolition work has started with the interiors stripped from the clubhouse buildings and windows and roof slates removed.   Working closely with architects AFL and contractors Buckingham, Tigers have started work on the development which will feature 3,000 seats including a premium season ticket lounge known as The Clubhouse, plus club offices and public concourse, taking stadium capacity to 26,000.    The previous temporary stand was used for the final time at the Aviva Premiership Round 22 fixture against Northampton Saints – the final home game of the season – and was removed at the start of last week.   The club office buildings have been moved to the opposite end of the stadium, the Tigers Club Store is now in operation in its new location on the corner of the MET-Rx Stand, with the ticket office using main reception.   Season tickets in all areas of the stadium, including the new stand, are available for 2015/16 now. There are bronze, silver and gold seats in the new stand, plus a limited number of Tiger Seats available at the same rate as terrace season tickets. Click here for more season ticket information or contract the Tigers ticket office in person or phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2).   There is a new section of the club website with updates and photo galleries from the redevelopment work, and a third webcam has now been added so you can keep up with the work.
