Leicester Tigers mascot Welford teamed up with Tala from Woburn Safari Park and Taylor Wimpey's Taylor Tiger to support endangered tigers in the wild.Welford joined the other mascots at a special charity event at Woburn Safari Park on Saturday to support the Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance’s Amur Tiger Conservation Project.   As well as meeting visitors to the park, they enjoyed a reading of the classic children’s book The Tiger Who Came To Tea.   The event included tiger-themed games in the Visitor Enrichment Centre, face-painting, a raffle and mini VIP trips for visitors to meet the park’s Amur tigers up close.   The tiger house, supported by Taylor Wimpey North Thames, is home to three Amur tigers from the European Endangered Species Program (EEP).   There are only an estimated 400 to 500 Amur tigers living in the wild, in the birch forests of Eastern Russia. They face a number of threats, mainly poaching and loss of habitat, and the EEP is playing an important role in trying to preserve the species and prevent its extinction.   The Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance is also working to prevent the extinction of the Amur leopard and tiger as well as their habitat, in the wild and in captivity, through education and conservation.   For more information about the Amur Tigers at Woburn Safari Park visit http://www.woburnsafari.co.uk/
